Brussels was preparing to honor terror victims with an interfaith memorial Monday after a weekend of raids across Europe aimed at signaling stepped-up cooperation following carnage in the Belgian capital, NBC News reported.
The toll from the bombings climbed to 35 early Monday after four of those wounded in the suicide bombings last week have died in the hospital, Belgian health minister said.
Meanwhile, several suspects were in custody from Belgium to Italy and the Netherlands, picked up as part of a spree of searches carried out over the weekend. Three were charged with terror offenses though it was not explicitly clear if they were linked to any particular attack.
Only one person — Faycal Cheffou — has been charged specifically in relation to the Brussels bombings, but it was still not clear what role investigators they believe he played in the attacks.
