Dallas police confirm a 17-year-old boy stabbed a 19-year-old woman during a high school graduation on Saturday.

It happened a half hour into the graduation at Dallas Lutheran School in the 8900 block of Stults Road around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Dallas police said a 17-year-old male stabbed Camille Smith of Plano with a pocket knife. Smith was not a student but a guest of a graduate. She was taken to the hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Dave Bangert, executive director of Dallas Lutheran School, said in a release that the attacker was "quickly subdued." Police said he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. It's not known what provoked the attack.

"The school was immediately locked down and after an appropriate time the ceremony resumed after prayer for both the victim and the attacker," said Bangert in a statement.

The school said the rest of the ceremony went on without incident.
