A man was killed when he was struck by several cars while crossing westbound Interstate 905 south of San Diego, according to investigators.
Traffic was diverted at the WB I-905 connector to northbound Interstate 5 after the incident was reported at approximately 6:10 a.m. Friday.
California Highway Patrol officers say a man attempted to cross the westbound lanes of traffic from the right shoulder to the center median.
A 32-year-old woman from San Diego, driving a 2006 Ford Explorer, began to take the connector to I-5 when she saw the pedestrian. She did not have time to swerve away, so she struck the man, the CHP says.
Other vehicles hit his body, killing him.
The vehicles pulled over and stopped and waited for CHP officers to arrive.
The section of I-905 was reopened just before 10 a.m.
The name of the victim has not been released.
